Brandon Aubry, the starting kicker for the Dallas Cowboys, is quickly being proclaimed by NFL fans as the best kicker in the league. On Sunday morning week 2, the Cowboys went toe-to-toe with their rivals, the New York Giants, the game looked like a sure victory with the cowboys ahead 34-30 with just a little over 2 minutes to go in the 4th until Giants Quarterback Russell Wilson put them ahead by 3 with a late game hail mary into the endzone. The Cowboys with less than a minute were not finished however.
With the Cowboys trailing and time running out, a 64-yard attempt seemed like a desperate gamble. Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer, however, put all his faith in Aubry just three yards shy of Justin Tucker’s official NFL record. With 25 seconds left, Aubry nailed the 64-yarder, tying the game and giving Dallas a shot in overtime.
What followed was a grueling back-and-forth battle. Eventually, Dak Prescott scrambled the offense into range for a 46-yard field goal. And what did Aubry do? He drilled it, sealing the game in emphatic fashion.
With a game-winning field goal, Aubry secured both the clutch tying kick in regulation and the decisive points that lifted the Cowboys to a 40–37 overtime victory a game many thought they were destined to lose. His performance all but guarantees him Player of the Week honors. On top of that, Aubry now owns two of the longest field goals in NFL history and broke the league record for most 50-plus yard field goals in a single season back in 2024. He has delivered time and again, and Sunday was no exception. Cowboys fans can’t wait to see what’s next from one of the most dangerous kickers in the NFL today.
